It's ...I don't know if you've read her 'Bari Chol'. It's a wonderful, wonderful story. It was one of my absolute favourites as a child, right from the day I first read it in a pujabarshiki. 'Utshob', I think it was called, or 'Chhutir Moja'. Come think of it, I don't even know whether those pujabarshikis are published anymore.

Dipta, if you take post requests, and I think you do, would you please do a series on children's lit. in Bengali? I for one would be delighted.Rimihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04344200811838569151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10102622.post-84376423403594857952007-04-10T04:46:00.000+05:302007-04-10T04:46:00.000+05:30thanks for this post. though there is google news,...thanks for this post. though there is google news, news of her death did not reach me even after 5 days. her books remain an integral part of my growing up.Dipanjan Dashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06888124706772906331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10102622.post-14147528787724729562007-04-09T12:03:00.000+05:302007-04-09T12:03:00.000+05:30Anandabazar came out with a good profile -http://w...Anandabazar came out with a good profile -

http://www.anandabazar.com/8edit3.htm

Leela Majumder was one of the editors of Sandesh for a while in early 80s. Her last writings probably appeared in the "pujabarshikis" around 85-87. She completely lost her memory and could not recognize anyone for last several years. After Nirad C Chowdhury she is the first notable Bengali to have lived 100 years. Her auto-biographies published from Ananda ("Kheror Khata" and "Pakdondi") are must reads for anyone interested in old times.Nilenduhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06405855729781763171noreply@blogger.com
